FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AAU TaeKwonDo Indiana State ChampionshipsA Gas City gas25 Feb 2006 -- Early Saturday morning, several athletes gathered outside the Dojang, located at 71st and Georgetown, as they prepared to travel north to Gas City and the AAU TaeKwonDo State Championships. After a brief delay, the competition began, with an Team ATI competed in their first Synchronized Team Form event ever. Performing Poomse Choong Moo with all its flying side kicks and 360deg. jumps the team thrilled the crowed, only to de disappointed by the scoring for a silver medal. Individual forms continued the disappointments for ATI as the scoring did not favor them in the Individual Forms. Only Eric Deutsch won gold and Lia Treffman took silver out of seven competitors from ATI. With the Olympic Sparring event, ATI began to make its presence felt. The thump of hard hits to the hogu (chest protector) drummed away as eight competitors battled to four first place finishes, three second and one third place finish. All of the ATI team fought hard, not only against competitors, sometimes each other. The also struggled to just stay "up," loose and limber. Battling the boredom and tedium of staging. Some of the competitors had been at the tournament for eleven hours before they had to fight. While not quite happy with the tournament, management , and judging, ATI can take comfort in its embrace and practice of the Tenets of TaeKwonDo. Showing PATIENCE, during a very long, long day. Using PERSEVERANCE, to keep up the effort Demonstrating INDOMITABLE SPIRIT when they battled on to success at the end of the day. To all the other competitors who showed up, otherwise we might as well stay home. To all the friends families and fans ... thank you for support. To all the coaches, thanks for the words of advice and support under difficult times. To Master Burns for all the training and time put in. Congratulations to ALL the athletes who put forth a great effort, an outstanding show and always fought hard. Thanks be to you!
